JKSV on Nintendo Switch 2: Status

Last updated: October 24, 2026. The short answer: JKSV cannot run on the Nintendo Switch 2. This page is the maintained status record for that question, updated when facts change. JKSV itself remains fully available for Nintendo Switch 1 on the download page.

Why it cannot run

JKSV is homebrew software. It runs on a Switch 1 because custom firmware — normally Atmosphère — provides a homebrew environment with access to the console’s save data. The Switch 2 has no CFW available, so there is no environment for JKSV to run in and no port that changes that. This applies to Switch 1 save managers generally, not to JKSV alone. Any download claiming to be a working JKSV for Switch 2 today should be treated with strong suspicion.

What ns2jb is — and is not

On October 22, 2026, an exploit known as ns2jb was publicly described for Switch 2. As of October 24, 2026, it is a tethered exploit depending on SmileBASIC 4.4.9 and firmware 23.0.1, and it must be run again after every reboot. It is not custom firmware, it does not by itself provide a general homebrew platform, and there is no JKSV port built on it. It is a research milestone worth watching, not a way to manage Switch 2 saves today.

What Switch 1 users should do

Nothing about your setup changes. JKSV’s current release, tag 12/02/2025, runs on Switch 1 with Atmosphère 1.12.1, with cloud backup, batch backups and editing workflows intact. If you own both consoles, the practical arrangement today is Switch 2 for new games and Switch 1 for the library whose saves you back up, edit and transfer with JKSV. A hardware transition is also a good prompt to make a complete backup of the Switch 1 library while everything is in one place.
